At last, we have a £700,000 plan to restore the Billy Trail to it’s full destiny, but that’s only the first stretch. We will need much more to finish the job.
But this disastrous government has suddenly slashed active travel funding by two-thirds with no warning, against all their strategies for active travel and health. How can councils plan like that?
Funding for cycling is now just £1.07 per head per year in England, compared to £17.40 in Wales and £34.30 in Scotland. Forget levelling up, forget improving our health, forget the climate emergency!
If that drives you as mad as us, please help us reverse them:
- Email Alan Mak MP to ask him to find the money to complete the Billy Trail.
- Transport Action Network is taking the government to court for breaking their own commitments, but can you help fund the legal costs?.
Thank you. Wilf Forrow.
