We’ve been saddened to hear that Chris – a long time supporter of Cycle Hayling – died recently after a long battle with cancer.
Chris was an enthusiastic cyclist. He was a CTC member and regular rider with the U3A cycling group. He was planning to join the Paris to Hayling cycle ride last year but was too ill to make it.
He was a well-known figure on the Island through his involvement with a number of groups including: the Bowling Club, HIADS, U3A and Age Concern. He was also a frequent contributor to the Hayling Forum as ‘Hayling Bowler’.
We will miss him.
Very sad news. I met Chris a few times last year when he took part in the Paris to Hayling practice rides. I remember how much he always liked his pot of tea at lunch time. I know he was very disappointed when he couldn’t take part on the Paris trip. He had practiced so hard. Condolences to his family.
So sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family.
Mike and I went to his very moving funeral in The Oaks, Havant. It was truly a celebration of his life. We have cycled with him in the U3A cycling group and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Sorry to lose another cyclist
