At the invitation of Headteacher Wendy Bolton, Cycle Hayling helped stage a cycling event on 11th June that involved all the pupils with bikes.
It was a busy afternoon. We split the pupils into teams and ran sessions for each team covering: a speed challenge using a turbo trainer; a cycling benefits quiz; basic bike maintenance; ‘show and tell’ of equipment and different types of bike; and how to repair a puncture. The pupils decorated their bikes and entered a parade where we chose the best-looking ones for prizes. Other prizes were awarded for the winners of the benefits quiz and the cycle challenge.
At the end of the day, we ran a ‘Dr Bike’ workshop so pupils and parents could bring bikes that needed some TLC.
Prizes for the events were donated by Cycle Hayling and the Hampshire County Council Travel Team.

What a great way to encourage kids to cycle, and to keep fit!
