Thank you for joining our social ride!

Thank you to everyone who managed to join us for our social ride from Creek Road car park, cycling gently along the sea front to the Ferry Boat Inn, with a detour via the Saltmarsh Lane footpath that we are working to upgrade to cycling. I counted about 30 of us, so we split up into 2 groups.

And the Ferry Boat, watching the sun set over the beautiful harbour entrance, was perfect for that well-earned drink afterwards!

We heard a lot of good views on what you love about Hayling, but also what you want to see improved:

  • You didn’t like the dreaded stones along the beach path
  • The barrier at Parkdean was really difficult for some
  • Billy Trail sea defences and flooding came in for a pounding, from us this time, not from the sea
  • As did the Billy Trail surface
  • Having to ride in traffic
  • And more

But we also found that many of you weren’t signed up to our mailing list, so only found out about us by chance, from social media or The Islander.

That’s important, because the more community support we can show, the more influence we’ll have. If you received this by email from us, you ARE signed up, but if any of your cycling friends aren’t, please sign them up now.

It’s easy, at cyclehayling.org/signup, and you can even do it on your phone (I know, because I added another 5 or 6 at the pub!).

Thank you for all your kind comments, support and encouragement. It was a lovely evening, and we’ll do it again before too long.
