Cycle Hayling Map – More Information

The Map shows our best available information as at August 2022. If you see anything wrong or missing, please tell us!

Some of us at the Cycle Hayling signboard at the bridge

Our 6 sign boards still show the out of date 2017 map, and are in a bad way, so they need updating – a big and expensive job, so we’re working on that now. They’re strategically placed across the island:

  • The Hayling Ferry
  • The bridge (pictured)
  • South end of the Hayling Billy Trail (Station Theatre)
  • Beachlands (on wall of café)
  • Eastoke (on wall of toilets)
  • Creek Rd (on wall of toilets)

We’d like to put one at school entrances, and in car parks, to encourage more people to cycle.

See the 2022 paper map for the latest status. We’ll update the signboards as soon as we have the time and money.

The only cycle shop on the island is Hayling Cycles, on Elm Grove. They service bikes for £20 plus any required parts, they sell parts, great value bikes and e-bikes, and they give you great and friendly advice. Please support them.

There is a Halfords with lots of bikes and bike stuff in Havant’s Solent Road Retail Park. Use this route to get there.

There are also some several private houses doing cheap second hand bikes, for example in Rails Lane and Manor Rd. They seem to know what they’re doing, and anyone who recycles old bikes is doing us all and the world a favour. And if you have an old bike to get rid off, try them before taking it to the tip – they may be able to revive it, for you or for someone else.

If you’re looking for replacement bike bits, Hayling Hardware might be able to help. It’s on Elm Grove, south of the library.

Click here to see the route to Havant Station using the Langstone section of the Billy Trail.

Click here to see the route to the main Havant shopping area, again, using the Langstone section of the Billy Trail. Here you will find a range of shops including:

  • The Parchment Makers (a Wetherspoons pub)
  • MacDonalds
  • KFC (at the west end of East Street go north and it’s on your right just before the bridge)
  • Bakers
  • Coffee shops
  • WH Smith (in the Meridian Centre)
  • Santander bank (HSBC is opposite the west end of East Street)

And, on the east side of North Street:

  • Poppins restaurant
  • Waitrose supermarket

Click here to see the route to the Solent Retail Park (which includes Halfords and a Burger King) via a large Tesco supermarket. We also show how you can get to the main shopping area (via KFC) and the railway station from there.

Click here to see routes to Portsmouth’s Eastern Road and the Hilsea Lines, and for onward routes to Portsmouth itself.

Note that these routes are an alternative to NCN route 2 which goes from Havant across the bridge onto Hayling via the Billy Trail to the south coast of the island, and then over the ferry to Portsea.
