This page lists regular events that are too frequent to include in the event calendar.

Portsmouth CTC, part of Cycling UK

Every Saturday and Wednesday – there is a Portsmouth CTC ride starting at 9:15 from The Spring, East Street, Havant. The ride is a full day of cycling (typically 6-7 hours) but many people cycle only to the elevenses stop and cycle back from there. More details.

Every Sunday – there is a ride starting at 9:15 from Cosham Library. The ride is a full day of cycling at a faster pace than the Saturday and Wednesday rides. Routinely, the rides have an elevenses stop, a lunch stop and a tea stop. More details.

Alternate Sundays (except winter) – there is a medium pace ride starting from different locations around the borders of Portsmouth. More details.

Alternate Fridays (except winter) – there is a ride from the Stride Centre that adapts to those participating. More details.

Thursdays during the lighter months – a ride out to a pub for an evening meal. More details.

Once a month – there is an easy ride; two to three hours cycling using cycle paths, cycle lanes and quiet country roads as much as possible. More details.

Note that Portsmouth CTC rides are open to everyone and there is no charge to join a ride, but you are expected to join Cycling UK if you want to ride more than a few times. In the meantime, you will need to sign a guest entry form. The form also has specific provisions for under-18’s.

Hayling Island U3A

HI U3A has a group dedicated to cycling that rides on the first Tuesday of each month – although it might be postponed if the weather is adverse. There’s no charge for joining a ride but you are expected to join HI U3A if you want to ride more than once or twice.

Social Cycling Buddies

Are a social cycling group based in Portsmouth. Rides are organised on Facebook. Everyone is welcome. There’s no fee to participate.
