Unfortunately there is no generally available bike hire on Hayling Island (no longer true, see below). Parkdean has bikes for hire, but only for people staying there. We used to have bike hire on the seafront, but that closed some time ago.
Brompton Dock ( www.bromptondock.co.uk ) has set up a number of hire outlets around the UK including one at the Portsmouth Park and Ride, Tipner. They hire out Brompton folding cycles at rates that seem very reasonable indeed. Could be a handy way to:
- Give cycling a try if you don’t have a bike of your own (more information on getting started here and here)
- Get hold of a bike or two for visiting friends and relatives
Tipner’s not very convenient for most people but, being Bromptons, it’s easy to pack a couple in the boot of a car for pick up and return.
